She is one of the leading figures in Italian investigative theatre: a form of theatre that often borders on investigative journalism, moving between inquiry and poetry, social critique and comedy. Her acting style draws on the traditions of popular theatre and socially engaged storytelling theatre: a direct relationship with the audience, the use of the body, comedy and improvisation, and a visceral approach to the mimetic construction of character.

This poetics runs through all her work: from an initial trilogy exploring the “fundamentals” of life — Nati in casa, Sexmachine and Tanti Saluti (birth, sex and death) — to a challenging journey into the destructive nature of the patriarchal system with La città ha fondamenta sopra un misfatto (inspired by Christa Wolf’s Medea: Voices), La Fabbrica dei preti (on life and education in Italian seminaries before the Second Vatican Council) and Mio Eroe (contemporary warfare through the voices of mothers whose sons were killed while serving in Afghanistan).

In 2016, she began a personal investigation into taboo and adaptation to the codes of violence, resulting in two works: La scimmia, an original text inspired by the protagonist of Franz Kafka’s short story A Report to an Academy (Mittelfest 2019), and Dentro. Una storia vera, se volete, exploring our relationship with truth and the taboo of intra-familial sexual violence (Biennale Teatro 2020).

In 2023, as a director, she created the monologue Cattivo, based on a novel by Maurizio Torchio and performed by Tommaso Banfi.

In 2024, together with Gaia Nanni, she wrote and directed La Notte dei Bambini, a performance exploring care and public healthcare, performed by Gaia Nanni.

Her plays have been translated and published in anthologies and collections. Mio Eroe, La Fabbrica dei Preti and Dentro have recently been published as three separate volumes by Scalpendi.
